Elevated FGF21 levels have been associated with multiple liver diseases, including alcoholic liver diseases (ALD), NAFLDs, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and hepatitis, although the role of FGF21 in the progression of these diseases has not been defined (60). Here, FGF21 is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
