NPY and Alzheimer disease: Among the latter, NPY- and PV-IR neurons, in particular, can be selectively affected in many pathologic conditions, including Angelman syndrome (Godavarthi et al., 2014), Alzheimer’s disease (Ramos et al., 2006), schizophrenia (Stansfield et al., 2015), aging (Pugliese et al., 2004; Kuruba et al., 2011), and seizures (Sun et al., 2007).
