A role for HDL in glucose handling in the brain is an interesting candidate to partly explain the association of reduced circulating levels of HDL/ApoA-I with Alzheimer’s disease (Kuriyama et al., 1994; Kawano et al., 1995; Merched et al., 2000; Castano et al., 2006; Roher et al., 2009). This evidence concerns the gene APOA1 and Alzheimer disease.
