Whereas Aβ-metal ion interaction has been extensively investigated, since the recognition of the fundamental role played by transition metal ions dyshomeostasis in the etiopathology of AD [180–184], less data is available from the literature concerning the role played by Cu(II) or Zn(II) in the IAPP-associated aggregation and toxicity in T2DM. This evidence concerns the gene IAPP and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
