GRIN2A and Zinc deficiency: Because we have previously found significantly increased level of NMDAR GluN2A protein in the PFC of rats at 6 weeks of zinc restriction (Doboszewska et al. 2015) (Table 2) (which indicates that a 6-week ZnD diet may alter the function of NMDAR in the PFC), our previous and present observations suggest that zinc deficiency may enhance glutamate signaling through NMDAR.
