Autotaxin (also called lysoPLD, which produces LPA from lysophosphatidylcholine) activity for LPA production increased in the aqueous humor of the eye following corneal damage and ischemia-reperfusion injury of the retina increased LPA release (Liliom et al., 1998; Savitz et al., 2006). This evidence concerns the gene ENPP2 and ischemia reperfusion injury.
