A highly intriguing example is a personal specific splice junction in ICA1. ICA1 encodes autoantigen ICA69, which is involved in vehicular transport of insulin secretory granule proteins and is known to play an important role in autoimmune diseases, including type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and Sjogren's syndrome (61–64). The gene discussed is ICA1; the disease is autoimmune disease.
