In recent years, increasing attentions have been focusing on HE4 (Human Epididymis Protein 4) since its first shown to be highly expressed in ovarian cancer by cDNA microarrays in 1999 [16], especially on its clinical application as a predictor in ovarian cancer for early diagnosis [4], better tumor cytoreductive surgery [7], chemoresistance [8, 10] and prognosis [7, 10]. The gene discussed is WFDC2; the disease is ovarian carcinoma.
