Although previous functional studies of PHF11 have centered on its role in the regulation of cytokine gene expression in T-lymphocytes [1, 2], the susceptibility of individuals with atopic dermatitis to viral infection and the finding that PHF11 is an ISG has led us to test for PHF11 expression in keratinocytes and whether its expression is regulated by polyinosinic:polycytidylic acid (poly(I:C)), a ligand for TLR3 and an analogue of double-stranded RNA. Here, PHF11 is linked to atopic eczema.
