Additionally, the following biochemical factors were also identified as significant risk factors for gallstone disease in a univariate model (Table 2): having fatty liver disease (OR = 2.02; 95% CI: 1.07–3.81), abnormal serum HDL cholesterol levels (OR = 1.96; 95% CI: 1.01 - 3.85) and ALT (OR = 4.52; 95% CI: 1.09–18.9).
