HPSE and salivary gland cancer: Moreover, we also observed that patients whose saliva contained high levels of heparanase had worse overall survival (P = 0.0023) and disease-specific survival (P = 0.0025) and that salivary heparanase levels, by univariate and multivariate analyses, were independent prognostic factors in patients with malignant salivary gland tumors (hazard ratio, 2.805; 95% CI, 1.218–6.460; P = 0.015).
