In our previous study, we demonstrated that the snake venom toxin from Vipera lebetina turanica induces apoptosis of colon cancer cells through reactive oxygen species (ROS) and c-Jun N-terminal kinases (JNK) dependent death receptor (DR4 and DR5) expression [15], and (E)-2,4-Bis(p-hydroxyphenyl)-2-butenal inhibits colon cancer cell growth via suppression of NF-κB and induction of DR6 [41]. The gene discussed is MAPK8; the disease is colonic neoplasm.
