It has been reported that HDAC inhibitors; TSA, MS-275, FK228 and HC toxin promote the induction of DNA damage by a variety of anticancer agents; doxorubicin, paclitaxel, etoposide, cisplatin, bleomycin, mitomycin-C and topotecan, which resulted in enhanced generation of ROS, then cell death in human ovarian cancer cell lines; OVCAR-3, OVCAR-4, OVCAR-5, OVCAR-8, SKOV-3, and TYK-nu (Ozaki et al. 2008). The gene discussed is HDAC9; the disease is ovarian cancer.
