In the present study, adiponectin levels were negatively correlated with waist circumference, BMI, TC, TG, FBG, insulin, IL-6, and HOMA-IR (all p < 0.05); when adjusted for sex, age, smoking status, and LDL-C, adiponectin remained significantly associated with MetS and MetS components. The gene discussed is INS; the disease is metabolic syndrome.
