In TB, studies exploring recombinant IL-2 as adjunctive therapy to standard TB treatment have shown contrasting results; one study reported improvement of clinical symptoms with recombinant IL-2 in addition to multidrug TB therapy [65], whilst another study revealed rather detrimental effects of adjunctive IL-2 therapy [66], the latter assumed to be due to IL-2 mediated expansion of Tregs [67]. The gene discussed is IL2; the disease is tuberculosis.
