OGG1 and Alzheimer disease: If our data is reproduced in follow-up studies, APE1 activity could potentially be incorporated into a DNA repair panel of risk factors for AD risk assessment or early detection, as suggested in the case of lung cancer [45]; in that study, the suggested risk factor panel consists of enzymatic DNA repair activities (in PBMCs) of APE1, OGG1, and methylpurine DNA glycosylase.
