The NT-proBNP levels in 101 patients diagnosed with HF (Killip II/III-IV), including patients with heart failure symptoms at admission to hospital and 49 patients who developed HF during their hospital stay, were significantly higher than those in the 185 patients who did not suffer from heart failure (12311 ± 13560 pg/mL versus 4773 ± 8807 pg/mL, p < 0.0001) (Figure 2).
