Mason-Garcia et al. [20] demonstrated that erythrocytes in the presence of EPO increase the production of LTB4 and 12-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid, and they suggested that this increase may be related to the activation of phospholipase A2 and C. However, nothing is known about the relationship between EPO and lipid mediator production in fungal infections. This evidence concerns the gene EPO and fungal infectious disease.
