Klotho protein was first related to cardiovascular disease in the experiments by Kuro‐o et al. 1, where a Klotho deficient‐mice model showed accelerated arteriosclerosis associated with extensive medial calcification of the aorta, as well as both medial calcification and intimal thickening of medium‐sized muscular arteries. The gene discussed is KL; the disease is arteriosclerosis disorder.
