In conclusion, despite intrinsic limitations of this study (i.e. data obtained by analyzing one single human triple-negative breast cancer cell line and the lack of true normal breast tissue specimens for the evaluation of protein expression in IHC analyses), our study allowed us to define a short molecular signature linked to HMGA1 expression that has prognostic value in breast cancer and that could be eventually used for developing an RT-PCR based tests. The gene discussed is HMGA1; the disease is triple-negative breast carcinoma.
