We demonstrated (1) that their expression is linked to HMGA1, both in vitro and in vivo; (2) that their gene expression levels have prognostic value in terms of overall, relapse-free, and distant metastasis-free survival (OS, RFS, and DMFS, respectively); and (3) that suppression of their expression in the MDA-MB-231 TNBC cell line significantly impacts cell motility, suggesting an unexplored role for these proteins in cancer invasion and metastasis. The gene discussed is HMGA1; the disease is cancer.
