As the activity of NOTUM has been demonstrated to involve the release of GPI-anchored glypicans (analogous to Drosophila Dip and Dally) from the cell surface [45], we further investigated the involvement of such genes in the Wnt/β-catenin pathway in not only the tumors but also preneoplastic lesions detected in the colon of AOM/DSS-treated animals at 5 weeks after tumor induction. This evidence concerns the gene GPC1 and infectious otitis media.
