Down-regulation of MALAT1 in vitro in cell lines of different cancer types (i.e., breast cancer, colorectal cancer, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, renal cell carcinoma, and others) leads to reduced cell proliferation by cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase, and to cell apoptosis [25,26,27,28]. Here, MALAT1 is linked to breast cancer.
