ALB and hepatocellular carcinoma: Serum albumin and bilirubin levels are the 2 most significant independent prognostic factors to predict hepatic events in patients with cirrhosis.37 A new prognostic score, the albumin–bilirubin (ALBI) score, which incorporates serum albumin and bilirubin concentrations, can offer an evidence-based, objective, and discriminatory method of assessing liver function with good prognostic performance in HCC.39 In our cohort, when assessing the independent risk factors predicting poor overall survival by multivariate analysis, model I demonstrated that BCLC substage is correlated to poor prognosis.
