Eight of the ten test regions overlapping DNA sequences previously reported to be hypermethylated in breast cancer vs. nonmalignant breast tissue or in more aggressive vs. less aggressive cancer types (APC , EGFR, GSTM2, GSTP1, LHX2, PITX2, RASSF1A and RUNX3) exhibited hypermethylation in this study at the designated p-value cutoff levels (p < 0.001 and p < 0.01, Table 3).
