WWP1 is a member of the E3 superfamily and its expression has been linked to prognosis in a variety human malignancies, suggesting that WWP1 may play a role as a tumor oncogene: WWP1 was significantly increased in oral cancer tissue specimens and cell lines [32]; increased levels of WWP1 mRNA and protein were reported in a subset of breast [30, 31] and prostate cancers [32]; and similar observation were made in head and neck squamous cell carcinomas [38]. This evidence concerns the gene WWP1 and neoplasm.
