MAP1LC3A and Alzheimer disease: Memantine, another central nervous-system active pharmaceutical (a glutamate receptor antagonist and a drug used in AD) identified by LC3 puncta as an inducer of autophagy (Supplementary Fig. 2), but not passing all secondary tests (Supplementary Table 2), did not clear hyperphosphorylated tau and did not reduce total tau (Fig. 7b,c).
