Tanaka et al. investigated the expression patterns of cytokines, chemokines, and cytokine receptors in the labial salivary glands of patients with Mikulicz disease and Sjögren syndrome, and demonstrated that mRNA levels of IL-4, IL-5, IL-10, TGF-β, and Foxp3 were upregulated in Mikulicz disease compared with Sjögren syndrome and controls [11]. Here, FOXP3 is linked to IgG4-related dacryoadenitis and sialadenitis.
