EGFR and non-small cell lung carcinoma: Several randomized, open-label, phase III clinical trials have compared tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) with the routine chemotherapy, and the data suggest that the response rate (RR) and PFS of patients with EGFR-mutated NSCLC who receive EGFR-TKIs as a first-line treatment are significantly greater than those of patients who receive chemotherapy, although the OS did not differ significantly between these two treatments [20–30].
