In addition, since some neuropathic pain syndromes, such as that induced by oxaliplatin, affect vascular function [10–12], and vascular endothelium has a function in peripheral pain mechanisms [3, 4], we also evaluated the role of the endothelium and Piezo2 in a model of painful peripheral neuropathy produced by the cancer chemotherapy drug oxaliplatin. The gene discussed is PIEZO2; the disease is peripheral neuropathy.
