Although it was very evident from our in vitro results that inhibition of Mcl-1 completely reversed the acquired resistance to vemurafenib in melanoma cells, it was of utmost importance to translate these observations in vivo. At day 30, the average tumor volume of the control group was 1613.5 ± 231.9 mm3 while that of vemurafenib treated group was 1688 ± 156.19 mm3 (Fig. 5A and 6A) indicating that the tumors did not respond to vemurafenib treatment at all.
