Recently, a meta-analysis evaluated the association of ALDH2 variants with the risk of AD in East Asian populations has found that ALDH2 ∗1/∗2 and ∗2/∗2 genotypes are associated with increased AD risk only in subgroup analyses in which male subjects are included (OR = 1.72, 95% CI = 1.10–2.67, and p = 0.02) [87]. This evidence concerns the gene ALDH2 and Alzheimer disease.
