On the contrary, Akt2 depletion, rather than Akt1 or Akt3, in the two NSCLC cell lines resulted in pronounced dephosphorylation of mTOR, p70S6K and rpS6 (Fig. 5b; all P < 0.05 for Akt2), indicating the key role of Akt2 in rpS6 activation. The gene discussed is AKT3; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
