We tested the association of the 48 differentially expressed eIF2 pathway proteins and mRNA transcripts in a genome-wide association studies of >13 000 schizophrenia patients14 and found that15 eIF2 pathway proteins reached significance, and two (EIF2AK2 and RPS13) were highly significantly associated with the schizophrenia phenotype. This evidence concerns the gene EIF2AK2 and schizophrenia.
