Three of them (MRP4 aka ABCC4, MRP5 aka ABCC5, and MRP8 aka ABCC11) have the ability to actively extrude cAMP and cGMP from the cell (Kruh and Belinsky, 2003) and in cardiac myocytes, MRP4 has been shown to enhance cAMP formation, contractility, and cardiac hypertrophy (Sassi et al., 2012).
