For ease of reference, the original reports on knock-out [26] and orexin-neuron ablated [22] mouse models, the first reports on the metabolic [27] and respiratory [28] characteristics of murine narcolepsy, and the research reports from our own laboratory concerning cardiovascular alterations in addition to cataplexy and sleep-wake characteristics of murine narcolepsy [29–31] are highlighted in Fig 1. This evidence concerns the gene HCRT and narcolepsy.
