To further investigate whether STAT3 and NF-κB play a critical role in (E)-4-(3-(3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)allyl)-2-methoxyphenol-induced activation of death receptors as well as inhibition of colon cancer cell growth, we pretreated the colon cancer cells with STAT3 inhibitor stattic (50 μM) or NF-κB inhibitor PAO (0.1 μM) for 1 h, and then these cells were treated with (E)-4-(3-(3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)allyl)-2-methoxyphenol (10 μg/ml) for 24 h. The gene discussed is STAT3; the disease is colonic neoplasm.
