CRP and aortic valve calcification: Interestingly enough, those two associations were independent from each other, which made it impossible to state that it is (an association of rs1205 with) CRP that drives (the effect of rs1205 on) an increase in aortic valve calcification status, although such an explanation would be really tempting due to previous laboratory and clinical findings suggesting that an elevation in CRP levels (and inflammation) can correlate with an increase in aortic wall or valve calcification [36,37].
