Regarding clinical states, Boden et al. examined the proteome from subcutaneous fat in patients with obesity and insulin resistance vs lean and insulin sensitive [17], Insenser et al. from both adipose tissue depots in patients with obesity [21], Oliva et al. in visceral fat from women who had gestational diabetes [23], and Murri et al. and Kim et al. in visceral fat from lean patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus [22–24].
