To identify genes controlled by the PI3K pathway through altering DNA methylation, we used the AKT inhibitor MK2006 to suppress the PI3K pathway in three thyroid cancer cell lines that harbored mutations in the PI3K pathway, including the FTC133 cell harboring PTEN deletion, OCUT1 cell harboring PIK3CA H1047R+/+, and K1 cell harboring PIK3CA E542K+/+ [18]. This evidence concerns the gene PIK3CA and thyroid gland carcinoma.
