While increased expression of MMP9 (3.6-fold) and MMP12 (10-fold) has been reported earlier in TB patients7, expression of TIMP2, TIMP3, TIMP4 were also found significantly reduced in this study (−2.27-, −8.46-, −69.7-fold, respectively), highlighting the dysregulation in remodeling of extracellular matrix during LNTB. Here, TIMP4 is linked to tuberculosis.
