In contrast, LCN2, an iron-trafficking protein shown to be specifically induced in astrocytes following inflammation and stroke (Zamanian et al., 2012), was also induced following stab wound injury, but activation in Sema4B−/− mice was ∼1.5 times higher compared to that in Sema4B+/− mice (Fig. 2J).
