Although tissue‐specific deletion of Rictor in liver is sufficient to cause hepatic insulin resistance, this is also a feature of mice lacking Rictor in adipose tissue, and mice lacking Rictor in skeletal muscle or pancreatic beta cells also have impaired glucose tolerance (Kumar et al., 2008, 2010; Gu et al., 2011; Lamming et al., 2012, 2014a).
