Few studies have investigated mucosal proteomic changes in IBD, and only one has shown changes in cytoskeletal proteins, showing elevated levels of actin cytoskeletal and associated proteins in patients with a higher risk of UC progression.28 Given associations between K8 and colorectal cancer progression and its interactions with inflammatory pathways, we investigated the mucosal changes in IFs in patients with UC with differing cancer risk and inflammatory status. This evidence concerns the gene KRT8 and cancer.
