MAPT and Alzheimer disease: The major findings from this study are as follows: (1) patients with AD showed greater changes in [18F]THK-5117 retention in the temporal lobe than did HCs; (2) the spatial pattern of [18F]THK-5117 accumulation was consistent with the postmortem observation of tau pathology in the different stages of AD; and (3) the rate of [18F]THK-5117 accumulation correlated well with the rate of cognitive decline in patients with AD.
