Recently Masai et al. found serum FGF23 levels were also associated with coronary calcification independent of classical cardiovascular risk factors in patients with suspected CAD and with preserved renal function [9], while Xiao et al. reported an independent association between circulating FGF23 concentration and the severity and extent of coronary artery stenosis in the coronary angiographic patients [25]. Here, FGF23 is linked to coronary stenosis.
