Based on these preliminary findings, and reports regarding the expression characteristics of tumor suppressor genes in leukemia, such as wilms tumor 1 (WT1), which was consistently found to be highly expressed in peripheral blood (PB) or bone marrow (BM) in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and is used for inhibiting tumor targeting, we hypothesized that PHTF1 is involved in negative regulation of tumor growth. This evidence concerns the gene WT1 and acute myeloid leukemia.
