The insufficient response to immunotherapies may in part be due to immune evasive mechanisms in gliomas such as the down-regulation of ligands for NKG2D by transforming growth factor (TGF)-β [8, 10, 11] and certain miRNA species [12] or the expression of immune inhibitory proteins like HLA-E or—G [13–15]. This evidence concerns the gene KLRK1 and central nervous system cancer.
