SLC17A6 and myeloid sarcoma: Similar to the rodent demyelinated lesions, there was an approximately sixfold increase in VGluT2 expression in the human MS lesions compared with the normal-appearing white matter (Fig. 8a–e; P=4.1 × 10−7, unpaired t-test, n=5 lesions from 5 patients) and the VGluT2 puncta were observed in close proximity of NG2+ cells present in the MS lesions (Fig. 8f,g; detected for 150 NG2+ cells), with NG2+ processes nearly always located near the VGluT2 puncta.
