GSN and Sepsis: In addition, decreased levels of pGSNhave been observed in several other disease conditions that include Malaria [16], allogenic stem cell transplantation [17], hyperoxia in mice [18], oleic acid induced lung injury [19], cecal ligation/puncture model of sepsis, lipopolysacacharide (LPS, endotoxin) challenge [20,21] murine stroke [22], diabetes [23]etc. Currently, initial clinical trials are underway to explore the therapeutic potential of gelsolin in inflammation in humans.
