Plasma CXCL8 was greatest in the healthy smoker group (11.05 ± 8.92 pg/mL) compared to the nonsmoker group (1.20 ± 21.92 pg/mL, p = 0.047) and COPD group (6.01 ± 5.90 pg/mL, p = 0.366). Here, CXCL8 is linked to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
